Development is the best marketing

Today's lesson

Recruiting turns athletes into marketers. Highlight reels, exposure events, who follows who back. Some of that matters — coaches can't recruit someone they've never heard of.

But the athletes who actually get offers are almost always the ones still obsessed with getting better, not the ones obsessed with being seen. A coach isn't only evaluating what you are today. They're estimating your slope — how much better you'll be in two years.

Being visible gets you looked at once. Being on a steep slope is what keeps them looking.

Today's challenge

Pick the part of your game you've been avoiding because you're bad at it. Give it fifteen minutes today, alone, with nobody filming.

Today's question

If a coach watched you train for a week without knowing any of your stats, what would they conclude about you?

Today's tip

Keep a training log. Not for anyone else — for you. Two lines a day. In six months it becomes evidence of a slope, and evidence beats belief.

Remember

Exposure gets you seen. Development gets you kept.
