Today's lesson
Ask any athlete what they should do after a bad play and they'll tell you: let it go, move on, next play. They know. Knowing has never been the bottleneck.
The gap is that under pressure you don't rise to what you know — you fall to what you've rehearsed. A reset you understand but have never practised is not available to you at 24–24. It's a fact you own, not a skill you can use.
That's why the work is boring on purpose. Reps in low-stakes moments, so the thing is automatic in high-stakes ones.
Today's challenge
Run your reset three times at practice today after plays that didn't matter. Not after the big mistake — after a routine miss. You're building the groove, not fixing a problem.
Today's question
What's one mental skill you understand perfectly and have never actually practised?
Today's tip
Attach the rep to something that already happens. Every time you walk back to the line, back to the huddle, back to your mark — that's the cue. You don't need extra time, you need an existing moment.
Remember
Under pressure you don't rise to what you know. You fall to what you've trained.
