Today's lesson
Talent gets you into the room. That's the whole job it does.
Freshman year, being the most gifted kid on the field is enough. Somewhere between there and the next level, everybody in the room is gifted. The thing that got you in stops being the thing that keeps you there, and a lot of athletes don't notice the switch until they're already behind.
What separates people after that is boring: who prepares the same way on a Tuesday in February, who is still coachable after being told something they didn't want to hear, who keeps a clear head when the game speeds up.
None of that is talent. All of it is trainable.

Name one thing you've been coasting on because it came easily. Train the thing next to it instead — the one you've been avoiding.

Ask a coach what you'd need to fix to play at the next level, then write the answer down word for word. Don't argue with it for a week.
